About Daria Kulesh: MotherLand

Nearly 10 years ago, on 31 January 2015, Daria Kulesh launched her debut album Eternal Child – described by FolkWords as “phenomenal” - at The Old Town Hall. Since then, she has won multiple awards and nominations, touring all over the UK and Europe.

On Friday 31 January 2025, Daria will celebrate 10 years on the UK folk scene and the launch of her highly-anticipated 4th solo album MotherLand. She is delighted to be returning to The Old Town Hall for this special occasion.

Daria has been on quite a journey, both personal and musical, including a song that changed her life – The Moon and the Pilot - described by Mike Harding as “one of the most beautiful new songs of the last 10 years”.

The show, featuring the stellar line-up of Jason Emberton (drums, percussion), Jonny Dyer (guitar, bouzouki), Marina Osman (piano) and Katrina Davies (violin), will recreate the album’s rich musical textures live. In addition to the songs of MotherLand, 10 fan favourite songs from Daria’s previous three albums will also be performed, all combined with fascinating stories. Experience a breathtaking musical journey from the Highlands of Caucasus to the Western Isles of Scotland; from a slave ship in the Atlantic to a snowy village in Ukraine. Songs of the past, the present and a hope for the future, against all the odds.
