About The Dream of a Ridiculous Man
"I am a ridiculous man. Now they call me a madman."
On a bleak St. Petersburg night, a man convinced that "nothing in the world matters" decides to end his life. But as he falls into a heavy sleep, he is whisked away on a cosmic odyssey to a "Second Earth"—a paradise untouched by grief, shame, or sin.
Dostoevsky’s final, visionary short story is brought to life in this searing solo performance. Moving from the depths of nihilistic despair to a blinding, spiritual awakening, the production explores the terrifying power of a single soul to both corrupt and redeem a world.
This is a psychological journey through the darkness toward a radical, beautiful hope. In an age of cynicism, Dostoevsky’s masterpiece asks the ultimate question: is it truly "ridiculous" to believe in the goodness of humanity?
Dostoevsky’s profound story has been performed by a number of outstanding actors, including Jeremy Irons. Tom Larkin puts his personal stamp on it and delivers a tour de force. Set in our contemporary world The Ridiculous Man brings a powerful message of hope, love and the potential for transformation.
