Anna Schofield

Life In Colour

A Solo Exhibition

Anna Schofield of Anna’s Funky Art is a self-taught, experimental, intuitive artist, muralist and furniture upcycler. She has a passion for the outdoors and is happiest when walking among trees in local woodland. Anna enjoys sharing her passion for art and nature through forest bathing, land art and incorporating recycled and found objects into her creative practice.

She really enjoys the experiential nature of her art practice, allowing the process to guide her art, relishing the experience of timeless flow as she creates. Often Anna has no planned outcome when she begins an artwork and allows her intuition and instinct to reveal images, patterns and textures through the flow of her composition. Her abstract artworks are bright, colourful explorations of nature: Anna sees humans as simply another part of the natural world and not something separate to it and so her art is also an exploration of what it means to be human.

Her journey as an artist began as a response to trauma and she soon discovered that art gave her a way to express difficult emotions in a way that words and talking could not. She began to use art as a tool to heal and since then her life has blossomed into a successful career as an artist and holistic practitioner, enabling her to share the transformational power of creativity with others through workshops, community art projects, social prescribing, and wellbeing retreats.

Anna plays a key role in the local art community and is the founder of the Dacorum Creatives, a not-for-profit group for local creatives, providing opportunities for local creatives to and building a supportive arts community. Projects so far include the successful Dacorum Creatives Art Gallery which ran for three years in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre, The Plough Roundabout Community Mural and Sunnyside Arts Fair which is held once a month between September and March annually.

For Anna, being an artist is about so much more than creating art. It’s about connecting with others and walking with them on their journey through life, finding meaning, hope and joy along the way. It is about delving deep into our subconscious and discovering the hidden stories from within …

Join her for her solo exhibition at The Old Town Hall from 7th April to 6th May 2025.
