Cynthia Williams

Cynthia Williams discovered her passion for painting later in life, beginning her artistic journey in her late fifties. Every Wednesday she attended sessions at Frobisher Studios in Glencoe Road, Bushey, where she joined friends to paint, share a cup of tea, and enjoy lively conversation.

Cynthia found great joy in her artwork, particularly in creating landscapes and animal studies. Her natural talent shines through in the pieces displayed in this exhibition.

She was inspired by the work of Lucy Kemp Welch, who led the Bushey School of Painting. Frobisher Studios itself was founded in 1883 by Hubert von Herkomer, with Kemp Welch taking over in 1905. The studios remain active today, tucked behind Bushey Museum on Rudolph Road, continuing a long tradition of local artistic practice.

Cynthia sadly passed away in 2005 from breast cancer, but her creativity and spirit live on through her paintings.

We invite you to spend time with Cynthia’s work and enjoy the warmth, skill, and personality captured in each piece.
