Stef Morales

I am Stef, a Fine Art Graduate. I have always had a passion for creating art from a young age. Originally from Colombia, and moving to the UK at the age of 5 I can still remember not being able to communicate with the other children in my class. I often felt like art was the only subject I could strive in at school as I didn’t feel the pressure to speak or communicate linguistically, and instead could do so through creativity. Art became a safety blanket for me growing up and even now into my adult life I still use it to express emotions, thoughts and issues.

My biggest inspiration from the art world is Frida Kahlo the Mexican artist.

My biggest inspiration from the art world is Frida Kahlo the Mexican artist. I adore how she created paintings that told stories about her life and the extreme struggles she was going through, particularly after her accident which left her bed bound. I draw similarities from her as it was her way of communicating and expressing her internal dialogue without the need for words.

I’m currently a primary school teacher where I still feel I can be creative with the children and encourage their creative expression from a young age.

The art work shown in this exhibition is a mixture of different pieces I have created either in lockdown or in my own free time. I sincerely hope you enjoy exploring my art as much as I enjoyed creating it.
