Pete Greening
Geometric Abstract painter
After discovering the mid to late ‘60s works of Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely in 1970, Pete was inspired to start painting geometric abstract paintings.
His first exhibition was at The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead in March 1980.
Since then Pete has had many solo exhibitions and has exhibited in many group shows, including at London’s Brick Lane Gallery, and the Royal Academy Summer Show. Pete has also exhibited in Belgium at The Nicholson Art Gallery in Brussels, and Gallery X in Dublin, and buyers of his work live in Ireland, France, New Zealand, the United States and Canada, as well as the UK. Many of his works have been used for music release album covers.
Pete's paintings explore the optical effects of linear distortion and arithmetical progression. The patterns and colours used are carefully selected to create either an optical illusion of movement, or to create a feeling of tension on the surface of the painting. Everything he does is hand-painted – the slight imperfections show the human-made aspect of the work, which may be considered rare in our AI generation.
Carolyn Storey
Carolyn is an artist and Illustrator based in Hertfordshire, who creates character design focused artwork for exhibitions and commissioned projects.
Having always been curious about character artwork, influenced by Golden Age Disney films, Quentin Blake, and Beatrix Potter, Carolyn has a fascination with the weird and wonderful, and enjoys expressing emotion through colour, telling a narrative by putting characters in surreal settings.
Since graduating from Kingston University with a BA Honours degree in Illustration and Animation in 2007, Carolyn has accumulated an impressive portfolio consisting of commissioned projects, including Children’s book illustration, poster work, wall murals, and designing greetings cards.
In more recent years Carolyn's Creative Writing and artwork have taken a direction towards Wellness, and she runs an Instagram account where she shares photography, writing, and anecdotes addressing topics relating to Body Image, Anxiety, and Mental Health.
Carolyn resolves to encourage others to turn to creativity as a form of expression in aiding positive mindfulness. As of 2021 she has hosted Intuitive Drawing groups, which she aims to continue with in future.
Linda-Gail
Linda-Gail is a self taught artist based in Hemel Hempstead. Drawing has always been a core focus of Linda-Gail's life; as a child she would sketch classic characters, progressing as a teenager to recreating band album covers.
Linda-Gail primarily works with graphite, coloured pencils, and pan pastels to create expressive, character-driven artwork. Some of her pieces focus heavily on visual storytelling - you will notice that cats feature heavily in Linda-Gail's work because she is a huge fan of them! Another favourite of Linda-Gail's is capturing portraits of beloved TV & film characters. Recently, she has begun exploring a series of intricate flowers constructed entirely from steampunk components.
