Rupture to Repair

Presented by Child Of Project C.I.C

Rupture to Repair brings together a selection of works created by participants of Child Of Project's mentorship programme in Hemel Hempstead; a long-term creative recovery initiative founded and led by artist Sam D'Cruze.

Working outside the frameworks of traditional art therapy, the programme offers sustained, one-to-one and group mentorship to people navigating addiction recovery, homelessness, and complex personal histories. Through making, participants are guided not toward a fixed outcome, but into a relationship with their own creative process, learning to sit with uncertainty, move through resistance, and find meaning in what emerges.

The works presented here are the result of that journey. Each piece carries the mark of rupture, of lives interrupted, identities fractured, stories left unfinished, and equally, the evidence of repair: the patient accumulation of mark, material, and meaning that creative practice makes possible.

Rupture to Repair is not an exhibition about recovery. It is an exhibition about what people make when they are given the space, time, and support to make it.
