Statement from Claire Hamilton, Chief Executive of Dacorum Borough Council:

The Councillors and Officers of Dacorum Borough Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.

As a mark of respect, Dacorum Borough Council will be flying flags at half-mast.

A Book of Condolence will be open from 11.35am on Friday 9 September at The Forum, Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted Town Council Civic Building and Tring Town Council Civic Building. The Book of Condolence will then be open on Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm until Monday 19 September.

Messages of Condolence can also be made online via the Royal Household website.

On Friday 9 September at 11.30am, floral tributes will be laid outside The Forum, Hemel Hempstead, led by the Mayor of Dacorum, Councillor Andrew Williams Leader of the Council, Sir Mike Penning MP and Gagan Mohindra MP and the Chief Executive of the Council. Members of the public are invited to lay their floral tributes during the period of mourning.

Full Council on Wednesday 14 September will begin with a period of silence as a mark of respect following this news.
