News Story

The Old Town Hall has recently trialled operating as a cashless service, which has been largely successful and had little impact on most of our customers.

As a small team, the financial and administrative impacts of accepting cash are costly and time consuming, and we feel that the time and money saved from regularly processing cash could be better spent in other areas of the venue, to improve the quality of service we offer.

Therefore, going forward The Old Town Hall will be considered a cashless venue. This means that our preferred method of payment at the Box Office and the Bar will be card, or contactless. However, we understand that some customers rely heavily on cash and have no other means of payment, and for the benefit of these individuals, we will endeavour to hold a small amount of cash on site so that everyone can continue to enjoy our venue and its facilities.

Please kindly assist us by paying with our preferred method of card or contactless payments where possible. Cash transactions will be restricted to those customers who are unable to pay by alternative means, to ensure that we have enough change in reserve if required.

We anticipate that this news will have little impact on most our customers. For those who are affected, we hope to have offered a solution that enables you to continue enjoying the brilliant productions and facilities The Old Town Hall provides. If you have any concerns about this, please contact Stewart Fairthorne (Theatre Manager) or another member of the team at othadmin@dacorum.gov.uk

Thank you for your support of The Old Town Hall over the years, and we very much hope to see you at the Theatre soon!
